About Anglo French Properties

Anglo French Properties was founded in 1989 and since this time we have taken great personal care in building up our portfolio of rental properties, exclusively in the South West of France, Provence, the Côte d’Azur and Italy.

What We Do

All our houses and villas are set in beautiful, peaceful surroundings in some of the sunniest parts of France and offer exceptional standards of comfort and privacy. All have their own swimming pool and some have a tennis court among many other features. These include landscaped gardens, often extensive grounds and breathtaking views.

Two thirds of our business is by recommendation and from customers who return time and again, sometimes to the same property. Others choose a different property every year, seeking variety and knowing that climate, scenery, cuisine and the overall way of life can differ greatly from one part of France to another.

Anglo French Properties is dedicated to bringing you exceptional villa holidays in the sunniest, most scenic and sought after locations. From private estates overlooking the Mediterranean to Châteaux, Farmhouses, Mill houses and Manoirs in the South West, booking the perfect holiday property in France can be but a moment away.

Extraordinary properties

We carefully select beautiful properties that appeal to all generations based on their character, history, locality, atmosphere and sense of place.

Specialist knowledge

Our pleasure is in sharing first-hand experience, knowledge and appreciation of France to help you plan your stay and make the most of everything on offer.

Curated for you

In every case, we aim to identify our clients’ perfect holiday home. We listen to you to understand your requirements and tailor our support and recommendations to ensure that we deliver exactly what you need and wish, making the whole experience seamless and stress free.

Who We Are

Jack

Jack

Raised on a farm in Dorset Jack served for several years in The British Army before qualifying as a chartered surveyor in rural practice and spending ten years as a Land Agent, principally in Estate Management for private clients.

In 2004, inspired by France, a wish to farm in his own right and the desire to do something a little different, he departed the beaten track and moved to France with wife and two daughters then aged 3 and 5. Investing all in an abandoned farm in The Vienne department of the Poitou Charentes the metier of farming consumed life intensively for several years.

Thus began an affair with France which becomes more passionate by the year!

Some years later, after experiences which could have filled a book, a productive and beautiful farm was sold and life moved on again.

Accident of fate led to a less natural liaison with e commerce in the UK. Two specialist small businesses later the lure of France called again. A chance meeting in 2018 with renowned wine merchant Miles Maskell, the original founder of Anglo French Properties, sparked a new chapter which brings us to date and continues apace.

Jack spends at least two months of the year in France visiting existing and new properties to add to the portfolio. As La France gently reveals more of her secrets so the relationship becomes more intense.

Italy has now tempted him and a separate affair with beautiful Italy becomes serious.

He loves speaking French but sadly will always be an Englishman to a French ear!

Jack is based again in his home county of Dorset with Lulu and Bean trying to avoid slavery to the internet but nonetheless intent on engaging with you!

Emily

Emily

Emily entered the world in the county of Cornwall. After only a few weeks of life she moved with the family to Shropshire and the great Welsh border lands.

In 2004, aged 5, she trustingly emigrated to France in a heavily laden, aged (and badly overheating) Land Rover and trailer packed with 3 year old sister, parents, some family  possessions and two dogs.

The French farm which became home was situated close to the River Vienne in that department. Emily and her sister started school immediately in the local village school of Le Vigeant. Almost without realising it she started life as a French girl at school by day returning to an English/French family home and farm in the evenings and holidays. In time she progressed to the Ecole Primaire in the local town of L’Isle Jourdain making the journey in the same Land Rover across the Vienne river each day!

After ten years at school in France she had spent more of her life fully immersed in France than in England.

Returning to England in 2013 she completed her education in England and attended Bath University graduating in 2021. Six month placements in Cannes (chartering yachts) and in Paris in an office on The Champs Elysée (marketing Renault cars) were a baptism in English/French marketing at different levels and in different spheres.

Having graduated she has been working for a marketing and marketing technology company in London.

These experiences give her an instinctive understanding and a deep appreciation of both the English and the French.

Emily does speak good French and loves to do so!

In October (2023) Emily joined Anglo French Properties.

We therefore now happily state that we are a family business for families and friends and for all English and French speaking people wherever you may be.

What our guests say

''We highly recommend Anglo French Properties to anyone who values consummate service, attention to detail and exceeding “the promise” in every way. Le Mas de Ravanassier (near Grimaud) was all Jack said it would be, and more. He managed our multiple lock down changes of plan and date with great tolerance and courtesy and then delivered for us the most wonderful holiday, beautifully briefed and organised, with everything working like clock- work. Thank you Jack and we will definitely be back''.

John and Lucinda Sunnucks, Dorset, England. 2022

'From start to finish, this was the most amazing holiday. Beautifully organised by Jack, it could not have gone more smoothly. So often, brochures overplay holiday destinations, but this was heaven and totally lived up to its reputation. The views overlooking the sea from the hills above were fantastic. The facilities were superb, from the tennis court to the swimming pool. Thank you Jack for organising an unforgettable holiday.'

Richard Onslow, Northumberland, England. 2022

'Anglo French Properties did a great job for us. Our family group of 16 had an outstanding holiday at La Bourdette in July 2022. Despite the uncertainties of the last 2 years, AFP managed to get our family holiday transposed from dream to reality. This included change of ownership of the property as well as endless alterations to travel arrangements by our family - coming from different parts of the world. The success of the holiday was as much due to our trust and confidence that Jack understood our needs and had our interests at heart, as the facilities and location of the villa. It goes without saying that the facilities at the villa are exceptional, so much so that in the 7 days we hardly left the villa to explore the locality - apart from buying food. I can thoroughly recommend Jack and am confident that he will always give you a prompt, efficient and courteous service; and that is a very rare occurrence in today's world - so seize it with both hands.'

Kit and Caroline Dollard, West Sussex, England. 2021
