Testimonials

"We stayed at La Valade in July 2022 with our family group of 11 plus two terriers. It was the best self-catering house we have ever hired – accommodation was spacious and beautiful, all facilities worked and Jude (the on site manager) who visited several times during the week was extremely helpful and pleasant. Our youngest was a teenage boy and the eldest an 82 year old grandmother and the house was comfortable and had entertainment for all. Particular highlights were a kayaking trip on the river through Brantome, followed by lunch on the riverside; a day trip to the lake at Saint Estephe; and evening BBQs in the outside kitchen/dining area beside the pool. Simply wonderful"

Angela Woodburn and family 2022

"Set in what was to us an undiscovered and beautiful part of France, 'La Valade' is indeed a hidden treasure. Nestling in the enchanting valleys of the 'Périgord Vert', this stunning property allowed us to unwind completely, and to immerse ourselves in the very best that France has to offer. And such a wide variety of things to do and see - restaurants, magical towns and villages, shopping, tennis on the nearby courts of St. Saud Lacoussière and Miallet, good golf courses, poolside lunching, siestas, and drinks and dinner under the stars. And at the end of the day, the comfort of its vast beds and snowy white pillows, knowing that the following morning one would again be greeted by the magical views all around, and by the start of another glorious day."

Simon J. Lycett, London, England

"We stayed in la Valade for a week at the beginning of September. We were a group of 9 adults and 2 children spanning 3 generations. The house was everything we could have wished for and more. It’s unusual to find a house with so many bedrooms that are all equally lovely. The description on the AFP website was very accurate but didn’t convey how spacious the house and gardens were. We ate in most evenings as the kitchen was well equipped and the outside dining area was very comfortable. The drought restrictions in place meant we didn’t use the bbq at the pool house but this didn’t detract from our stay. The house is remote but with lovely walks from it. We particularly liked visiting the nearby lake with its well kept swimming area and restaurant. We would definitely use Jack and his company again when organising a large family holiday. Our only 'complaint' being we should have booked 2 weeks instead of one but that was our fault!"

Mrs Dinah Docherty and family 2022

"La Valade is a French farmhouse that has been lovingly renovated and updated. The result is an extremely comfortable property where our family had two blissful weeks. The house is set in unspoit farmland, with wonderful walks and picturesque villages nearby. Having young children, we appreciated the powered safety cover on the heated swimming pool. We also thoroughly enjoyed digging for victory in the vegetable garden! I hesitate to call her simply a "cleaner" as our visit was enriched by the extremely helpful Jude, unobtrusive, efficient and full of humour, a star to go with a star property."

John Hardy, Somerset, England

"Our high expectations of 'La Valade' before arrival were totally exceeded. It is a truly beautiful house, set in a stunning garden, a gorgeous place to stay... Brilliantly equipped, fabulous kitchen, beautiful bedding, great bathrooms, we wanted for nothing. The owners were exceptionally helpful and friendly throughout, and with Anglo French Properties, we were provided with a truly 5-star service. Can't wait to return!"

Tara Stift & Family, London, England

"We had such a peaceful and rejuvenating week at La Valade and were so well looked after by Jude and Sian who were both extremely kind. Thank you very much for all you did to enable us to have such a happy week. The house is wonderful."

Lulu Lytle, London, England.
