Testimonials

"We had a fabulous time! The property is stunning, of course, but we appreciated how much there was to entertain the children. We were able to relax that much more with them preoccupied. Danielle was wonderful, friendly, and warm. She took great care of us and it was a pleasure having her around."

Porter family - July 2024

"It is hard to put into words what Les Confines meant to our family – we could not imagine a more perfect spot to celebrate a milestone birthday with our entire clan. Many thanks for sharing this extraordinary place so full of magical spots! Our grandchildren were heartbroken to leave, as are we! Goodbye to the bliss, including the frogs, crickets and cicadas! The trees, exotic plants, ponds, playhouse, swimming pool, the beautiful dinners under the sycamores. What lasting memories!"

Fisher family - June 2024

"We loved our week in the Elysian surrounds of St Fiacre. Our favourite place as a group was the outdoor tables, with the view both ways just being gorgeous whether at breakfast or dinner. However, it was hard to top the exclusive and private feel of the pool area. Much fun was had there. Having two indoor soft sitting areas - more formal, where the piano got some good use, and less formal where the little ones could relax in the cool was brilliant. To top it all off Danielle was an absolute dream. Her bubbly personality helped lift spirits in the morning and her “can do” professionalism was a real strength. All in all - WHAT A WEEK!"

Garden and Grounds

The gardens at Domaine de St Fiacre are a tour de force on the grand scale. Difficult to describe easily in a few words. It has at its centre a formal garden of perfect symmetry adjoining which are many separate worlds of their own.

The centre piece of the garden is a layout of magnificent formal plantings. Impressive by any standards with a rectangular pond adjoining the southern terrace at its head and a waterway that forms the centre line along its whole length. This is lined each side by a row of olives each planted in a massive terracotta pot. Either side of this are formal lawns with topiary hedging and a series of mini framed gardens each one with its own tree as the centrepiece.

On each side of these is a shaded avenue of vines and wisteria with flowering borders on each side. Two predominantly lavender gardens mirror each other at the southern most end of the garden.

At the south eastern corner of the garden, outside the formal garden is another world again for children. Here there is a large area with post and rale fences separating it from the meadows. Within that is a children’s Wendy house complete with its own mini bedroom, mini bed, bedroom cooker and mini garden furniture under its own mini pergola! On its other side is a timber built structure with a terrace on two levels and lookout platform at the very top. There is also a sand pit, with slide, another climbing frame / area, with ladders, slides, swings and a ground level trampoline.

Four cattle (not real ones!) graze the meadow. A children’s paradise.

Swimming Pool

A short walk to the west of the house on the outside edge of the formal garden is the swimming pool set in its own garden area with an African theme. A mother and baby elephant (not real ones!) approach the pool from a willow plantation and a giraffe pokes its head above a tall hedge. The swimming pool measures 5m x 14m and is 1.15m deep at the shallow end and 1.70m deep and the deep end.

There are 8 sun beds on a timber decking surrounding the pool. There is a separate seating area with rattan furniture under a loggia which also has a long wooden table with benches for eating poolside.

There is a pool house with a small kitchen with plastic glasses, cutlery, crockery etc. A sink, fridge and dishwasher. In a separate corner of the pool area is a magnificent bamboo framed sofa bed with its own thatched apex roof.

In another corner, reached by a raised decking pathway is a small garden house with oriental decoration. In it is a simple single bed / sofa and the walls are decorated with eastern rugs and throws.

There are poolside side shower and WC facilities.

NB: The pool is heated to 24 degrees during the summer months at no additional cost. The pool heating cannot operate between November and March.

Tennis Court

The tennis court is at the front of the house and can be reached from the African Garden swimming pool through a lavender pathway. The tennis court has an inbuilt basketball net and two inbuilt football nets so it can be turned into a great football pitch. There are also floodlights for those who want to avoid the heat of the day and play in the evening. Four tennis rackets, tennis balls, a football and basketball are provided.
