Here is our itinerary:

Day 1: Explore Saint-Paul-de-Vence and Fondation Maeght

Start your trip by diving into the artistic heart of Saint-Paul-de-Vence. Wander through the village’s winding cobblestone streets, exploring its many art galleries, boutiques, and historic landmarks. After lunch at a traditional bistro, head to Fondation Maeght, an extraordinary modern art museum set just outside the village. The foundation houses works by major 20th-century artists, including Miró, Chagall, and Giacometti. Take time to stroll the sculpture garden, where artworks blend beautifully with the surrounding landscape.

Day 2: Market Day in Vence

Head to Vence for a quintessential Provençal market day. On Tuesdays or Fridays, the market in Vence’s Place du Grand Jardin offers fresh local produce, cheeses, olives, and handmade goods. Browse the colorful stalls for provisions for the rest of the week. Afterward, take a leisurely walk through the medieval old town to see the charming streets, lively cafés, and Matisse’s Chapelle du Rosaire, an artistic marvel with its striking stained glass and unique design by the artist himself.

Day 3: Visit old Nice

Spend the day exploring the vibrant Old Town of Nice (Vieux Nice), a maze of narrow streets, baroque churches, and colorful buildings. Begin with a visit to the bustling Cours Saleya Market, known for its flowers, fresh produce, and antiques on Mondays. Have lunch at one of the many eateries serving traditional Niçoise cuisine, like socca or a salade Niçoise. In the afternoon, visit the Cathédrale Sainte-Réparate and enjoy a scenic walk up Castle Hill (Colline du Château) for panoramic views over the Mediterranean.

Day 4: Hike to Tourettes-sur-Loup

Enjoy a day of nature and exploration with a short hike to Tourettes-sur-Loup, a charming medieval village famous for its violets and artisanal shops. Starting from Saint-Paul-de-Vence, the hike is about two hours through the scenic countryside, or you can drive if you prefer. Explore the village’s stone streets, artisan workshops, and breathtaking views of the Loup Valley. Visit the violet boutiques to see the handmade perfumes and treats made from these flowers. Have lunch in one of the village’s cozy cafés before returning.

5. Easy Access to Attractions:

For a relaxing final day, unwind with a visit to one of the local vineyards around Saint-Paul-de-Vence or nearby villages. Many wineries offer tours and tastings of regional wines, giving you a taste of Provençal terroir. Enjoy a leisurely afternoon sampling rosés and reds, paired with local cheese and charcuterie. If you prefer to stay in town, spend the day at a café in Saint-Paul-de-Vence’s main square, enjoying the view of the surrounding landscape, or visit the village’s chapel, the Chapelle des Pénitents Blancs, known for its colorful frescoes.
