Le Pigeonnier

Grimaud, South of France

Discovered some 30 years ago by its owners who fell in love with this corner of Provence, Le Pigeonnier is a home that provides the perfect setting for a family holiday. Essentially and originally a traditional French farmhouse, the owners, with great care and sensitivity to the character of its origins, have incorporated every modern comfort to create an ambiance of settled and established luxury. It is every bit a much loved family home. Spreading over 3 levels and with views that extend over its own vineyard and a valley to the hills beyond, the gardens are an exquisite feature of Le Pigeonnier and include a tennis court and heated swimming pool.

Testimonials

"...What a fabulous time we have renting this gorgeous place. We have been coming here 22 years and it is honestly the highlight of our year. The layout is exceptional. It was brilliant for our kids when they were small and when they were teens they loved the nightlife nearby. And now in our middle age there is nowhere more relaxing. Enjoy!"

A Baker, London

"...We have stayed at the wonderful Pigeonnier several times and cannot recommend it more highly. It’s is an extremely comfortable, high-end holiday let but retains so much original charm - nestled in the French countryside, surrounded by vineyards and wild olive groves. There are wonderful shops and restaurants, wine bars and markets of local produce in the charming local town and it’s close enough to St Tropez for more glamour!"

Alice Blount, London

"The Pigeonnier is a perfect holiday home in an idyllic setting - offering swimming, tennis, hiking and cycling, as well as excellent local restaurants although we most enjoyed eating in the brilliantly designed, covered outside dining room, where there are also comfy armchairs and sofas for card games and cocktails."

J Atkinson, London

The beautifully maintained gardens, developed and improved over many years by the owners, are a particularly impressive feature of Le Pigeonnier.

Arranged over three levels it bursts with colour and fragrance, landscaped with roses, lavender, azaleas, other flowering shrubs and distinctive cypress and olive trees. The immaculately tended and irrigated lawns are a paradise for children and there are numerous peaceful corners and spaces for relaxation. The gardens give way to Le Pigeonnier’s own vineyard which produces a delicious Cote de Provence Rose, available to purchase if you wish.

In a quiet spot at the bottom of the garden is a La Boule Court with a seating area.

Badminton on the lawn provide another option for gentle exercise. The various different areas of lawn, garden and yard areas provide a variety of further natural sites for La Boule.

There is an outdoor kitchen and barbecue forming part of a covered terrace beside the pool. It has generous seating for a large group around its edges and there is also a table sufficient for a large family group to sit/eat.

The old barn adjoining the swimming pool forms a super Games Room in which there is a table tennis table and Table Football. Should you experience a rainy day this is also an excellent place for indoor football, cricket and for children to let off steam.

Further out and framed by trees and flowering shrubs on two sides is a superb all weather Tennis Court.

Location

The final approach along unmetalled roads through local vineyards lend an air of Provencal remoteness, charm and rural simplicity. Le Pigeonnier is an oasis of complete comfort, peace and privacy and yet, remarkably, is only 4kms from Grimaud and 12 kms from St Tropez.

Grimaud is a 10 minute drive and the closest port of call for freshly baked croissants. Grimaud has adequate shopping for everyday needs and a nice choice of good to excellent restaurants.

The glamorous harbour town of St Tropez with its famous beaches, old harbour, restaurants, clubs and bars, luxury yachts and marina’s is only 12kms. Port Grimaud, with its beaches, pretty houses and restaurants lining canals and squares is much the same distance.
